I’m still working on the BlogZine post promised last week that features a smash cut between August/Francis Ford/Carmine Coppola’s screening of the restored version of Abel Gance’s Napoleon at the Shrine Auditorium (LA 1981) and the Demon Bikers from Nick Cage’s film Mandy (2018). We’ll get back to that a bit later.
Meanwhile, since I’ve set myself a goal of posting weekly, here’s a sketchbook image from The BuBu Moderno Project in which I try another smashing together of my favorite media objects. This time Brant Parker and Johnny Hart’s The Wizard of ID and Samuel Beckett’s The Lost Ones fused together as one. BuBu Moderno tells a simple mythopoetic story (an epic really) about a society of microscopic cephalopods (octopus, cuttlefish, squid) that live in Freeedy C. Braine’s nose. Cast of characters next week. Here’s the sketch in five panels.
